Hampden-Newburgh LL takes part in Memorial Day parade

At the recent Memorial Day parade in Hampden, many of the players, coaches, and parents of Hampden-Newburgh Little League took part marching in the parade. The following photos are a small representation of those who participated. Congratulations to all the young players who took part in the parade.

Dirigo steals one from Dysarts, Quigley K's 12

Keegan Quigley threw 84 pitches and struck out 12 over six innings as Dirigo defeated Dysarts 4-3 on Friday night in Hampden. (All Photos by Skip Hawkes)

Friday night in Hampden, Keegan Quigley struck out 12 and went the distance for the win as Dirigo Slipform stole the game away from Dysarts with a come from behind 4-3 victory in majors baseball action.

Dysarts plated three runs in the bottom of the first as Quigley struggled through the inning, but over the next five innings he was throwing bullets as he went the distance with 84 pitches and 12 strikeouts.

Dirigo got one run back in the top of the third, but still trailed 3-1 heading into the top of the fifth. Tristan Gardner doubled in the fifth, and eventually came around to score the tying run. Quigley did his job shutting down Dysarts in the bottom half of the fifth leaving the game tied at 3-3.

In the sixth Brandon Maillet doubled and advanced to third. Maillet then caught Dysarts sleeping and took off for home plate and beating the tag to give Dirigo a 4-3 lead.

Dysarts would not go away, despite having just one out left. Joey Doyon doubled with two outs, and eventually took off for third base on a stolen base attempt. The throw down to third bounced past the Dirigo third baseman Maillet and rolled into shallow left field. Jackson Gilmore jumped on the ball and threw to home plate. The ball arrived in catcher Kyle Clifford's mitt forehead high, but two steps ahead of Doyon who was tagged out by Clifford for the final out of the game.

Maillet had a double and a steal of home plate for Dirigo, and Tristan Gardner added a double and scored the tying run in the fifth. Dakota Sudbeck added a single.

Ryan Manning had a double and single for Dysarts, and Doyon added a double, single, and an RBI. Dan Good had a single and an RBI, and Noah Parker added a single.

Dirigo knocks off HRH 15-12

In majors action on Tuesday, Dirigo Slipform defeated HRH 15-12. Matt Harris was the winning pitcher and Dakota Sudbeck had a four hit night.

Sudbeck topped all hitters with four singles to lead Dirigo. Drew Gilmore added two singles, and Ben DiSalvatore had a double.

HRH was led at the plate by Matt Closson with a triple and single, Alexander Hollis with a double and single, and Riley Eastman, Will Campbell, and Will Huston each with two singles.

Verizon cruises past Kiwanis 13-4, Standings Update

In Majors baseball action at the Canoe Road baseball complex on Thursday night, Verizon picked up their second win (2-6) of the season with a 13-4 victory over Kiwanis (3-7).

Mike Ward was the winning pitcher, and leading Verizon at the plate was Cam Scott with two singles, David Manzo with a double, and Destyn Fenlason also with a double.

Robert Stowe and Jay Baines each had a single to lead Kiwanis.

The Majors updated standings according to all reported results through Thursday, May 29:

Edwards squeaks out 15-14 win over Lafayette

In Minor League softball action at Ball Field Road on Thursday night, Edwards managed to squeak out a 15-14 victory over Lafayette. With the win Edwards improves to 4-1 on the season, while Lafayette falls to 0-3.

Leading hitters for Edwards were Erica Martin with a triple and two singles, and both Hannah Daigle and Nicole Quigley had two singles.

Top hitters for Lafayette were Daija Misler with a triple and two singles, Emily Stevens with two doubles and a single, and Elise Daub with three singles.

Quigley leads Sportshoe to 4-2 win over Rivertown

In Minor League softball action on Wednesday, Sportshoe defeated Rivertown 4-2 behind the excellent pitching performance of Kerry Quigley.

Winning pitcher Quigley tallied eight strikeouts and only four walks for the entire game.

Rivertown's Lily Salfi was the top hitter in the game going 3-3 with three singles.

Sportshoe remains undefeated at 3-0-1.

FA Peabody knocks off Dysart's 14-9, Maltz gets 4 hits

In Majors action Wednesday night, F. A. Peabody defeated Dysart's 14-9 as Jake Maltz and Luther Vom Eigen combined for seven hits.

Maltz led Peabody with a triple, double, and two singles, and Vom Eigen had two doubles and a single. Jeremy Kelsey added a double and single. Dylan Cray was the winning pitcher for Peabody.

Noah Parker, Daniel Good, and Ryan Richards each had two singles to lead Dysart's at the plate.

FA Peabody improves to 7-2 on the season, and Dysart's drops to 6-6.

F. A. Peabody edges Kiwanis 6-5

Tuesday night the F. A. Peabody majors baseball team regained the first place spot in the standings with a 6-5 win over Kiwanis. FAP improves to 6-2 on the season and holds a 1/2 game lead over Dirigo (6-3). Kiwanis falls to 3-6 on the season.

Jake Maltz and Luther Vom Eigen each had a double and single to lead Peabody, and Jeremy Kelsey added two singles. Matt Martin was the winning pitcher.

Kurt Townsend had two singles to lead Kiwanis at the plate.

Dirigo picks up Saturday win, Standings Updated

On Saturday in Hampden at the little league baseball complex, the Dirigo Slipform majors team took over first place with a 10-5 victory over Verizon. Dirigo improved to 6-3 on the season with the victory.

Jackson Gilmore had three singles, and Ben DiSalvatore and Dustin Ramsey each had two singles to lead Dirigo. Keegan Quigley was the winning pitcher.

Verizon was led by Forrest Spang with a double and single, David Manzo with two singles, and Cam Scott with a double.

Here is the updated standings through Saturday, May 24 of all games reported:

Dysart's grabs 2 wins in 2 games on Saturday

Saturday at the Hampden Little League baseball complex, the Dysart's major league team picked up two wins on the day to move to one game over .500.

In their first game of the day, Dysart's defeated Verizon 5-4. Noah Parker pitched five strong innings, and Ryan Manning closed the game and picked up the win. Michael Ward of Verizon had a strong outing as well.

Parker led Dysart's with a Home Run and a single, and he scored two runs. Daniel Good had a single and scored two runs. Clark Bjorn drove in Manning on a fielders choice for what would become the game winning run in the top of the sixth inning.

Ward led Verizon with two singles and two RBIs.

In the second game of the day for Dysart's, Daniel Good, Ryan Manning, and Joey Doyon combined for 17 Runs Batted In to lead Dysart's to a 20-14 win over HRH. The Dysart's victory improved them to 5-4 on the season.

Over the first three innings Dysart's held an 8-7 lead, but exploded for 12 hits over the final three innings.

Manning had a Home Run, two doubles, and a single with seven RBIs to lead Dysarts. Doyon added a double and three singles with four RBIs, and Good had a double and two singles with six RBIs. Noah Parker had four singles and Clark Bjorn added two singles. The Winning Pitcher was Good.

Matt Closson had two doubles and two singles with four RBIs to lead HRH. Bill Campbell added a double and single with two RBIs, Will Houston had a double and single, and Eric Armstrong had a double.

Walmart falls to Glenburn in Junior League baseball action

Sunday morning at Bordick Park in Hampden, Brandon Thayer went 5-5 with three doubles and two singles and Grady Hayes had a home run and a double with four RBIs as Glenburn routed Walmart (Hampden) 15-3 in Junior League baseball action.

Glenburn held a 6-0 lead after two and a half innings before Hampden got on the board with two runs in the bottom of the third. Glenburn came right back with five runs in the top of the fourth highlighted by an Inside-The-Park home run from Hayes with two runners aboard.

Two more runs in each of the final two innings put Glenburn on top 15-2 before an RBI double by Hampden's Cam Libbey plated the final run of the game in the bottom of the seventh.


Thayer had five hits including three doubles with an RBI and four runs scored, and Hayes had a double and home run with four RBIs to lead Glenburn. Andrew caitlin added three singles and an RBI, and both Mike Nickerson and Devon Romain chipped in with a single.

Libbey and Andrew Closson each had a double and an RBI to lead Hampden, and Cam Blood added a single.

Barteaux and Huston hurl NO-HITTER in HRH victory

Friday night in Hampden, Jack Barteaux and Ben Huston combined on a no-hitter as HRH defeated F. A. Peabody 4-1 in Majors baseball little league action. HRH improves to 3-4 on the season, while FAP falls to 5-2.

HRH scored two runs in top of the first, led 2-0 in the fifth when they added one more run, and after FAP scored their only run of the game in the bottom half of the fifth, HRH regained their three run lead with a final score in the top of the sixth.

Barteaux, with only three strikeouts in the game, got a lot of help from the flawless defense behind him before giving way to Huston in the sixth with one out after reaching the 85 pitch count limit.

Maillet and Gardner power Dirigo to victory

On Wednesday night Tristan Gardner and Brandon Maillet powered Dirigo to a 20-13 win over Kiwanis in Majors action. With the win, Dirigo improves to 5-3 and Kiwanis falls to 3-5 with the loss.

Gardner and Maillet both delivered a home run in the game. Maillet also had a double, and Gardner had a single to go along with his HR. Matt Harris picked up the win on the mound for Dirigo.

Leading Kiwanis at the plate was Austin Ivey with a double and single, and both James Gilmore and Richie Rawcliffe with two singles.

Kiwanis edges Dysarts 6-5, Standings Update

On the minor league field Tuesday night, Kiwanis picked up their third win of the season with a 6-5 victory over Dysarts in a Majors contest. Both Kiwanis and Dysarts now have a record of 3-4 on the season.

Leading Kiwanis to the win was Colin Vidas and James Gilmore with two singles each, and Richie Rawcliffe with a triple. Vidas was the winning pitcher for Kiwanis.

Joey Doyon had two singles to lead Dysarts.

Maltz had a single, double, and triple to lead Peabody. Jeremy Kelsey added a double and triple, and Matt Martin had a double and single. Martin picked up the win on the mound for FAP.

Tristen Gardner and Sam Jordan were the top hitters for Dirigo, both picking up a double.

HRH defeats Kiwanis 17-12

Monday night Billy Campbell had a triple and two doubles to lead HRH to a 17-12 win over Kiwanis. Both teams now have a record of 2-4.

Joining Campbell among the top hitters for HRH were Kyle Tolman with three singles, Jack Barteaux with a triple and single, and Matt Closson had a double and single. Campbell was the winning pitcher for HRH.

The top hitters for Kiwanis were James Gilmore with a double and two singles, Ben Foster and Colin Vidas with three singles each, and Robert Stowe with two singles.

F. A. Peabody knocks off Verizon 8-4

Saturday afternoon in Hampden, Dylan Craig allowed one run over four innings of work and Jeremy Kelsey and Matt Martin combined to drive in four runs as F. A. Peabody defeated Verizon 8-4 in a majors baseball contest.

Peabody scored three runs in top of the first inning and never relinquished the lead. They added three more runs in the fourth and two in the fifth inning to take an 8-1 lead before Verizon plated three runs in the fifth to cut the Peabody lead in half.

Nicholas Haggan led all batters with three hits. Kelsey added a double with two RBIs, and Martin had single with two RBIs. Craig picked up the win for Peabody on the mound, striking out five in his four innings of work.
