Sunday night at Bordick Park in Hampden, Nick Cota hurled a complete game two hit shutout as Orono-Veazie blanked Hampden 3-0 in a Junior League District 3 baseball tournament game.

Cota pitched seven innings allowing just two hits and two walks while striking out seven for the win. He also aided his own cause with two hits and an RBI in the game.
After Cota set Hampden down in order in the first inning, Dominic Mowrer led off the Orono-Veazie half of the inning with a triple. Mowrer later scored on a wild pitch to provide Cota with the only run he would need. Two outs later Cota tripled and came into score on a Tyler Eddy RBI single to put O-V on top 2-0.
Orono-Veazie added their final run of the game in the third inning. With one out, Josh Storgaard walked and stole second base. He then scored on an RBI single by Cota for the 3-0 lead and eventual winning score for Orono-Veazie.
Hitting for Orono-Veazie was Cota (triple, single, RBI), Eddy (single, RBI), Mowrer (triple), Mark Dieuveuil (single), and Cam Dwyer (single).
Hampden hitters were Kent Reichel (triple) and Sam Ward (single). Pat Gunn was the tough luck losing pitcher. He scattered six hits and walked three while striking out nine.

Orono-Veazie faces Bangor at 7:30 on Tuesday, July 15, while Hampden takes on Old Town at 7:30 Monday, July 14 at 7:30.
