Dirigo pulling away from pack, win 3 over weekend

This weekend the Dirigo baseball team took a big step in becoming the #1 team in the Majors division of Hampden-Newburgh Little League with three wins in three games covering Friday night and a doubleheader Saturday, and have now improved to 11-3 on the season.

On Friday night Dirigo defeated Verizon 15-7 led by the power hitting of Brandon Maillet. Tristan Gardner picked up the win on the mound. Maillet led Dirigo at the plate with two home runs and a double. Dakota Sudbeck and Gardner each added four singles. Verizon was led in batting by Cam Scott with two doubles.

In Saturday's first game, Dirigo squeaked out an 8-7 victory over HRH. Kyle Clifford was the winning pitcher. Clifford had two singles and Matt Harris added a double to lead Dirigo at the plate. HRH was led by Jack Barteaux with a double and single, Matt Closson with two singles, and Matt Stacey with a double.

The second game of the Saturday twin bill included five extra base hits for Dirigo as they defeated Kiwanis 10-4. Sam Jordan was the winning pitcher for Dirigo. Leading Dirigo at the plate was Brandon Maillett with a home run and two singles, Keegan Quigley with a triple and two doubles, Kyle Clifford with a double and two singles, and Dakota Sudbeck with four singles. Kiwanis was led by Colin Vidas with a double and single.
